Volunteer Story – Stephen Davey

21st June 2023

Stephen began volunteering in the Foodbank warehouse on West Avenue in October 2022. His main role is to organise the crates for deliveries to our three distribution centres and generally sorting and tidying the warehouse.

‘I’ve just finished my A-levels and I’m on a gap year. It’s something positive to do between part time work and another A-level I am doing. When I joined Bath Foodbank, it was getting into winter and people were starting to struggle with heating bills and other things so that motivated me to get involved.’

Stephen said that his favourite part of working in the warehouse is that it’s a hands-on and physical role. He likes working with the warehouse manager, John, and with other volunteers as “they are all really nice and welcoming and it’s a team effort”.

We would like to thank Stephen and our volunteers who do similar roles at the warehouse. The support of these volunteers is crucial to Bath Foodbank. Without their help, we would not be as efficient with our deliveries. They keep the warehouse organised and this then makes sure everyone who visits Bath Foodbank gets the emergency food they need.
