Latest national Foodbank figures

2nd December 2015

“Thank you for the help at a difficult time of my life and keeping a spark of hope alive. A man can live about 40 days without food, 3 days without water, 5 minutes without air, but only one second without hope.”

Last week we released our latest figures, revealing that between April and September 2015, our foodbanks gave 506,369 three day emergency food supplies to people in crisis, with 185,218 of those supplies having gone to children.

This was a 3% increase on last year’s figures, highlighting how hunger is still a major concern for low income families, with benefit delays still remaining the biggest cause of foodbank use.

But last week also brought with it an encouraging note, as one of our foodbanks received a heartwarming letter (above) from a former client, expressing their gratitude.

Your continued support is helping us to provide hope not just to that client, but to people in crisis all over the UK – thank you.
