Bath Foodbank Boosts Fitness and Literacy

4th August 2020

With many children missing out on the usual access to sports and education in recent months, the Bath Foodbank has extended its provision to help fill the gap.

Thanks to a three thousand pound grant from the Sport England Inequalities Fund (a partnership between Wesport, Sport England and the National Lottery), we are able to supply 100 families who already receive food parcels over the summer with sports activity equipment.

Bath’s John Moore Sports have kindly arranged the discounted supply of the equipment, and put the packs together for us, so that the balls, hula hoops, swingball sets and more can help keep children active over the summer.

In addition, we’ve been able to distribute children’s books and fun activity packs to the families and schools we’re supporting, thanks to an initiative by SouthGate Bath’s owner British Land, and the National Literacy Trust. With many children missing out on the usual access to sports and education in recent months, the Bath Foodbank has extended its provision to help fill the gap.

We’re hoping that as many children as possible are helped to have active bodies and minds before school re-starts in September.
